Anelise Curtis meeting with University City parents

A Teacher's Voice, A Neighbor's Heart

With over a decade of experience in early childhood education, I know that a child's future is built in their earliest years. I've seen the incredible potential in our U. City classrooms, but I've also seen the gaps within our school district.

Before making University City my home, I lived and worked in Pittsburgh, PA—quite literally in Mr. Rogers’ neighborhood. My values were strengthened there while serving a diverse community at the Jewish Community Center for five years, where I learned that positive outcomes start with forming strong, genuine relationships with families. I hold a deep belief that loving your neighbor is a moral obligation.

I'm running to ensure our board makes decisions rooted in pedagogical reality, not just policy. We need a curriculum that challenges every student, facilities that are worthy of them, and a genuine partnership with our richly diverse teachers and families.

Our Priorities

Increased Access to Student Rights

Ensuring legal requirements are transparent and accessible by fostering a collaborative environment where families and district leadership work together for student success.

Mathematics Proficiency

Partnering with parents to promote STEM pathways and rigorous math programs. Working with district leadership to equip students with the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed for tomorrow's careers.

Smart Early Investment

Supporting families by prioritizing early childhood education. Collaborating with the administration to build a strong foundation, driven by research confirming that early childhood education offers a significant return on investment.

Empowering Educators

Uniting families and the administration in support of our teachers. Building a culture of respect where educators receive the resources and professional development they need to thrive.
